Buspar Uses

Buspar affects the chemicals in your brain that may have become unbalanced and are causing anxiety.Buspar is used to treat generalized anxiety disorder. Your doctor may use this medicine to treat other conditions as well.

Buspar Directions To Use

Follow the directions on the prescription label. Take Buspar tablets by mouth. Swallow the tablets with a drink of water. You may take this medicine with or without food. However, to ensure that Buspar always works the same way for you, you should take Buspar either always with or always without food. Take your doses at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

Contact your pediatrician or health care professional regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

Buspar Warnings

Tell your doctor if you are pregnant before using this drug. It is not known if this drug is excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. Before taking Buspar, tell your doctor your medical history especially: kidney or liver disease, any drug allergies. Limit alcohol intake as it may intensify the dizziness and/or drowsiness effects of Buspar. Use caution when engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving.

Buspar Side Effects

Side effects that you should report to your prescriber or health care professional as soon as possible: blurred vision or other vision changes, confusion, difficulty breathing, chest pain, feelings of hostility or anger, vomiting, muscle aches and pains, sore throat, numbness or tingling in hands or feet, ringing in the ears, skin rash and itching (hives), weakness.

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your prescriber or health care professional if they continue or are bothersome): disturbed dreams, nightmares, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, nasal congestion, nausea, restlessness or nervousness, stomach upset.

Buspar Missed Dose

Do not double doses. Take your next dose as soon as you remember. If it is time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular schedule.

Buspar Overdose

If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. Symptoms of overdose may include hallucinations, confusion, fever, agitation, irregular movement of the eyes, seizures, dry mouth or nose, change in amount of urine, constipation, large pupils, drowsiness, slow or shallow breathing, dizziness, unconsciousness, unusually fast or slow heartbeat, or flushing.

Buspar Storage

Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed.

Buspar More Information

Before taking Buspar tell your doctor of all over-the-counter or prescription drugs you may use especially: other drugs for anxiety or depression, azole or macrolide antibiotics, haloperidol, narcotic pain medications. Do not eat grapefruit or drink grapefruit juice unless your doctor instructs you otherwise. Do not start or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval.
