Bentyl Uses

Bentyl is used to relieve cramps or spasms of the stomach, intestines, and bladder.

Bentyl Directions To Use

Take Bentyl tablets or capsules by mouth. Follow the directions on the prescription label. Swallow the tablets or capsules with a drink of water. It is best to take Bentyl on an empty stomach, 30 minutes to 1 hour before meals. Take your medicine at regular intervals. Do not take your medicine more often than directed.

Contact your doctor regarding the use of this medicine in children. Special care may be needed.

Bentyl Warnings

Check with your doctor before you stop using this medicine . Your doctor may want you to reduce gradually the amount you are using before stopping completely. Stopping this medicine may cause withdrawal side effects such as vomiting, sweating, and dizziness. Talk to your doctor if you are or plan on becoming pregnant before taking this medicine.

Bentyl Side Effects

Side effects that you should report to your doctor as soon as possible: nervousness, confusion, agitation, blurred vision and other eye problems, dizziness, decreased sweating, fast or slow heartbeat, difficulty swallowing, drowsiness, hallucinations (seeing or hearing things that are not really there), pain or difficulty passing urine, slurred speech, unusual weakness or tiredness, vomiting.

Side effects that usually do not require medical attention (report to your doctor if they continue or are bothersome): constipation, difficulty sleeping, dry mouth, change in taste, headache, increased sensitivity of the eyes to light, nausea, sexual difficulty (impotence).

Bentyl Missed Dose

If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you can. If it is almost time for your next dose, take only that dose. Do not take double or extra doses.

Bentyl Overdose

If you suspect an overdose, seek emergency medical attention. The symptoms of a Bentyl overdose may include: nausea, dizziness, vomiting, blurred vision, dilated pupils, dryness of the mouth, hot dry skin, difficulty in swallowing.

Store at controlled room temperature between 15o- 30oC (59o - 86oF). Keep out of the reach of children.
